Guest Tickets and Club Rules

Firstly New Members......

it is the responsibility of any member new or old to make themselves aware of club rules, they are all at your fingertips in your club book, ignorance of them is not a valid excuse.

In the real world if someone scratches your car then walks away you would stop them if they said I didnt know it was wrong to scratch a car you would not accept it and as a club neither do we, we try to avoid an abundance but the ones that are there are to protect the fisheries so please take 5 minutes to read your club book so you know how you can fish legally and what you can use and where you can use it!

 When you can fish

‘Close seasons’ are seasons when you can’t fish for some types of fish on certain types of water.

For example, you can’t fish for coarse fish on any river in England and Wales from 15 March to 15 June.

Also there is a fantastic article on the Anglers mail website how to responsibly care for fish whilst fishing! Its specifically about Carp but can be readily applied to all fish

read it here---------> http://www.anglersmail.co.uk/blogs/big-fish-thursdays/how-to-care-after-your-catch-carp-36670

This year sees WDNAC introduce a new guest system which allows any club member to take one guest up to twice a year. This is a new system and to avoid confusion as stated in the club book I will endevour to clarify all points so no misunderstandings happen.

Below you will find a list of points you must comply with

1. ANY adult member can take one guest twice a year to Mill Cotton...no other fishery!

2. The guest ticket slip MUST be filled in before you set foot on the bank with guests name and date.

3. The member is 100% responsible for the conduct of the guest and any breaches of club rules by guests will impact on member.

4. Ignorance of club rules is not an excuse they are all in the handbook and on entrances to the fishery. *** see below***

5. If asked by a Bailiff to see club book please comply with advice the Bailiffs give they are  there to protect our fisheries and they do so voluntarily.

 MILL COTTON RULES:

1. NO NIGHT FISHING

2. ONE ROD ONLY

3. FISH ONLY FROM PERMANENT PEGS

4. BARBLESS HOOK MAXIMUM SIZE 10

5. EVERYONE FISHING MUST HAVE SUITABLE LANDING NETS

6. NO KEEPNETS UNLESS IN A SANCTIONED MATCH

7. LEADS AND FEEDERS MUST BE FREE RUNNING

8. NO BRAID NO GROUNDBAIT NO BOILIES NO NUTS OR LIQUIDISED BAITS

9. PLEASE TAKE UNUSED BAITS HOME

10. FISHING MUST CEASE 30 MINS AFTER SUNSET LAST ONE OUT LOCKS CAR PARK GATE

The rules at Mill Cotton are pretty much standard for all commercial fisheries and are there to protect club members investment in fish stocks. A simple standpoint to adopt is if you do not wish to comply with the rules for Mill Cotton please avoid fishing there. There are many lakes out there where you can use heavy duty kit but Mill Cotton does not have the type of fish that require those kind of tactics.
